Katon • Housenka no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Fire Element. The ninja does the necessary hand seals and then emits a series of small fire balls. The ninja can also hurl a projectile which is covered in these same flames. To the opponent the attack appears to be only the balls of flame, they do not see the hidden threat within the flames. Meaning that even if the flames are put out, the projectiles still converge on the target. The flames can be used to cover different projectiles like shuriken or kunai.

Den decided that it was time that he learned another fire release techinque, right now all he could do was create a large fireball and a cloud of ash, and that wouldn't do much after awhile if he was forced into a position where his lightning jutsu wouldn't be effective, and was forced to use his fire element. That was the reason Den wanted to learn the Fire Pheonix Techinque, so he could have a little more versatility to his fire techinques. Den walked nto the training field, ready to learn the techinque. Den believed that it would be easy seeing as he was used to channeling chakra through his mouth.

Den did a few hand seals, focusing his chakra into his mouth, trying to make sure he would spit out a few tiny masses of fire, instead of just one large one like he normally did. Thnakfully the hand seals he performed helped him focus his chakra correctly, and he was able to shoot four tiny fireballs from his mouth, though it slightly burned his mouth and they disappeared quickly. Almost had it, just have to keep trying. den thought to hismelf, not willing to give up. Den performed the hand seals again, focusing his chakra once again, trying to make sure he didn't burn his throat again.

Den stood still for a moment, making sure that he was focusing his chakra correctly, then shot out four small fireballs once again, this time he didn't burn his throat and the fireballs did last until they hit a few nearby trees, burning it as they disappeared. Den then did the hand seals again, this time trying to use the jutsu more quickly so that he could use it properly in combat. Den practiced for an hour, until he didn't have enough chakra to continue. Den had managed to create twelve small fireballs in one go, and was glad with his results. Finished with his training Den left the training grounds, though he would practice more later.
